Good ringtones for kids8/13/2023 ![]() I realize this is a sensitive subject to broach. And it doesn’t bother me one bit because I’m the mom. They don’t get what they want, go where they want and do what they want. In the meantime, and on occasion, I make my children mad at me. It is my job, first and foremost, to nurture, train and prepare my children to survive and thrive in the world they will live in. Yet throughout all the years, even despite these current teen years, I’ve never lost sight of the most important fact I am not my daughter’s friend, I am her mother. ![]() How will our daughters learn to be good mothers? Do they know how to choose a good mate? Will they have the chutzpah necessary to survive the days yet to come? ![]() This is true for all mother-daughter relationships, ours is not unique. It reminds me that my interactions with my daughter are building the structure by which she will frame all other relationships. It sings, “Girls become lovers who turn into mothers, so mothers be good to your daughters too.” That’s why John Mayer’s “”Daughters” is the tune I’ve ascribed when my daughter call me. Unlike most people, I don’t necessarily download my favorite songs for ringtones instead I choose melodies or lyrics that remind me of the person who is calling. James Blunt's “You’re Beautiful” when my hubby calls and “We are Family” by Sister Sledge when, you guessed it, my sister calls me. The Sesame Street song plays when my house calls me. Yet, admittedly I am just as guilty for downloading annoying ringtones. Customized ring tones are obnoxious aren’t they? I was in a church service once when “We will, we will rock you!” rang out from someone’s phone.
